FIA Formula Regional European Championship has officially launched its new website, providing a dedicated digital platform for the feeder series.

Designed to offer comprehensive coverage of the championship, the new website aims to become a key reference point for teams, drivers, media and fans who want to stay up to date with the championship which is held under full FIA status, with the organization and promotion of ACI (Automobile Club d'Italia).

The platform features a clear and regularly updated structure, including dedicated sections for the latest news, race results, and an extensive image gallery, offering a complete overview of the championship throughout the season.

With the launch of the new website, the FIA Formula Regional European Championship, together with its official social media channels, further strengthens its digital presence and enhances the way fans and stakeholders can follow the series.

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, and the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) are proud to announce the selected teams for the FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) 2026.

Designed to deliver the next step in the Federation’s structured driver development pathway between FIA-certified Formula 4 and the FIA Formula 3 Championship, the Formula Regional European Championship was recently confirmed as having full FIA-championship status. This new chapter for Formula Regional in Europe represents a significant evolution of the junior single-seater landscape, with strengthened governance and a new technical package.

For its first season under full FIA status, the championship will feature a competitive lineup of ten leading teams, bringing together established frontrunners and ambitious challengers to form a grid of the highest quality.

The confirmed teams for 2026 are:

·       Rodin Motorsport

·       Trident Motorsport

·       Van Amersfoort Racing

With the Gen 2 Formula Regional chassis, new tyres, and this strong roster of teams, the FIA Formula Regional European Championship 2026 will solidify its reputation as the benchmark for aspiring drivers on the road to the FIA Formula One World Championship.

FREC reinforces the FIA’s commitment to a clear and compelling Single-Seater pyramid, ensuring a logical progression for drivers from FIA-certified Formula 4, through FIA Formula Regional, and on to FIA Formula 3 and beyond.

The championship will be organised with the full support of the FIA and in collaboration with ACI, the Italian ASN, which has also worked with Alpine on the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). The successful partnership contributed significantly to the series’ growth over recent years. This collaboration will provide a solid foundation for achieving sporting excellence, ensuring technical equity, and fostering long-term growth. Both parties have agreed on the key terms through a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding and will be finalising the long-form agreement and the strategic plan in the near future.

Since its inception in 2019 under the guidance of ACI and Alpine, the championship, certified by the FIA, has established itself as one of the most competitive and international single-seater platforms within the FIA’s global development structure. Over the past seasons, more than 160 drivers representing 44 nationalities and 22 teams have competed in the series. The category has become a proven stepping stone in the FIA single-seater pyramid, with graduates including Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Isack Hadjar, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Franco Colapinto.

The new championship will feature the Gen 2 Formula Regional chassis and a new tyre specification from Pirelli, ensuring the very latest safety innovations, technical modernity, and better alignment with FIA global standards. This will modernise the Formula Regional category and reinforce its position as a true international benchmark in driver development.
