FIA Formula Regional European Championship returns to track at Paul Ricard for a further two-day test

Following the first official outing of the season at last week’s Hockenheim test, teams and drivers of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship are set to return to action tomorrow and Tuesday (30–31 March) for a further two days of collective running at Circuit Paul Ricard.

All championship contenders will be back on track in the south of France as preparations intensify ahead of the season opener in Spielberg at the end of April. The Austrian venue will also host the final two days of pre-season testing over the Easter weekend, marking the closing phase of winter development.

At Hockenheim, the 10 teams expected on the grid completed an intensive programme with the second-generation Tatuus T-326, running in both dry and wet conditions to build early references for the 2026 campaign. Across the two days, the new-generation Formula Regional car racked up a total of 2,515 laps and over 11,500 kilometres, with 30 drivers taking part.

Seventeen-year-old Norwegian Marcus Saeter (G4 Racing) emerged as the outright fastest, setting a benchmark 1:34.370 during the opening day’s afternoon session - 0.339s clear of team-mate Saqer Almaosherji, who had led the morning running.

On day two, it was Reno Francot (CL Motorsport) who topped the timesheets with a 1:34.500, while R-ace GP’s Rashid Al Dhaheri had earlier set the pace in the opening session with a 1:34.589. The highest mileage over the two days was recorded by Alexandre Munoz (ART Grand Prix), completing 186 laps.

Track action now resumes at Paul Ricard, with the opening sessions scheduled for tomorrow ahead of a full day of running on Tuesday.
