Zhenrui Chi leads the way in afternoon Collective Test session

Zhenrui Chi set the fastest lap time in the second and final Collective Test session at Monza.

The MP Motorsport driver, who recently joined the Aston Martin Aramco Driver Academy, stopped the clock at 1:45.595, finishing just 0.007s shy of the benchmark set by Rodin Motorsport’s Reza Seewooruthun, who had topped the opening session earlier in the day.

Second fastest in the afternoon was fellow Rodin Motorsport driver Alex Ninovic, who ended the session 0.046s adrift of Chi. The Australian, in turn, held a margin of one and a half tenths over Sebastian Wheldon.

The MP Motorsport driver, who remains the only one to have claimed two victories this season after dominating the Zandvoort weekend, once again featured among the frontrunners after finishing fourth in the morning session.

Behind Wheldon was PREMA Racing’s Kean Nakamura-Berta, the highest-placed driver from the Italian squad, while Dion Gowda completed the top five.

Championship leader Rashid Al Dhaheri ended in 18th position for R-ace GP. The fastest Rookie was G4 Racing’s Marcus Saeter, with the Norwegian securing sixth place overall.

The on-track action resumes tomorrow with the sole Free Practice session of the weekend, scheduled from 08:30 to 09:20. Qualifying 1 will then get underway at 16:25, with the 30 drivers split into Groups A and B.
